COMMON QUESTIONS

New to ECC testing?
Start here.

We work with experienced contractors and first-time builders alike.

What is ECC testing, and is it the same as HERS testing?+

ECC stands for Energy Code Compliance. California's 2025 Energy Code introduced the ECC program for field verification; many people still call this HERS testing. We provide independent verification of applicable residential energy measures.

How do I know which tests my project needs?+

Your Title 24 Certificate of Compliance (often the CF1R) identifies the verification requirements. Send us the report if you have it, and we'll review the required testing scope before quoting.

When should I schedule an ECC Rater?+

As early as practical. Some inspections must happen during construction, before insulation or other work gets covered. Others happen after mechanical installation is complete.

Do you handle ADUs and smaller jobs?+

Yes. ADUs, additions, remodels, HVAC replacements, and new residential projects are all part of the work we focus on.

Can you provide the Title 24 energy calculations, too?+

We specialize in ECC field verification and testing. The project designer or energy consultant typically prepares the compliance calculations. If you're unsure which documentation you have, contact us and we can help identify the next step.
